On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Washoe County Human Services hosted the 5th Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Event at Life Church. Each year, we hold this event to thank and celebrate our wonderful foster parents who open their homes and hearts to children in foster care. This year, we had 125 registered foster parents, while 180 children enjoyed the childcare services provided, giving their foster parents a well-deserved night out.
The event featured a Western theme, with BBQ served for dinner, a spotlight on foster parents and birth parents, awards for foster parents, line dancing, rolled ice cream, and over 90 raffle prizes for the attendees. Our Master of Ceremonies, Rebecca Kitchen from KOLO News, helped create a night filled with appreciation and gratitude.
We are grateful for our case workers, family and friends, community partners, and even some foster parents who contributed with donations and support to making this night a success.
Nevada's Just in Time Training is a web based service program designed to connect foster parents, kinship or other caregivers with training, peer experts and other resources. Questions are answered and practical solutions to care for children are discussed - all from the comfort of your home or office.
